Jamahl Strachan is a 33-year-old career diplomat, currently posted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He trained in the US and China, and has worked on building relationships between The Bahamas and Qatar, India, the UAE, ECOSOC and CARICOM.
In 2008, he became the first Bahamian to intern for then US Senator Barack Obama in his Senate Office in Washington DC. This was the experience which ignited his determination to someday enter frontline politics.
Jamahl Strachan speaks several languages, he has represented The Bahamas at some of the most prestigious global assemblies, including the UN General Assembly, CofCor and CARICOM Regional Meetings.
Still a resident of Nassau Village where he was born and raised, he is extremely proud of the community organisation he founded, ‘Future Of Our Neighbourhoods’. They have built strong partnerships with the New Covenant Baptist Church (where Jamahl Strachan worships), Family Of All Murder Victims, and Hands For Hunger.
