The 1st of September was a great and proud day for Bahamian Jasrado “Jazz” Chisholm, an alumnus of the now iconic Freedom Farm Baseball League, when he received that important call from the Major League club the Miami Marlins to join the Major league of Baseball.

The PLP congratulates Mr. Chisholm, his family and his coaching staff on the occasion of this extraordinary accomplishment. His fellow players and the local Freedom Farm coaching staff laid much the ground work and honed the skills that would later propell Jasrado to international sports prominence.

We further commend the tireless work of former Senator Gregory Burrows who dedicated much of his life to youth development through the vehicle of sports.

Signed fresh out of MaxD Academy to the Arizona Diamondbacks minor league farm baseball team in 2015 at the tender age of 16, this singular accomplishment has strengthened The Bahamas’ brand as a sporting mecca which will serve our country well and inspire many young Bahamian athletes to pursue excellence.

This accomplishment is also another important reason why the program ‘Sports in Paradise’ must and will be re-established by the Progressive Liberal Party upon its return to office.
